SEE YOU ALL AT SOUTH WINCHESTER ON THE 12th SEPT

Southampton City 2014 will be remembered for lots of things, massive number of birdies, OK well quite a few then, and the scores.

There have been other times when the scores have been quite high,(society record is 54 points by John Newnham many years ago), but I cannot remember so many scores so high at one fixture.

Robin was looking good on 41 points until Mr Mankin came in with the same number but a better count back score, then Simon came in with 46 points to really show how to score well round Southampton. Did you realise Robin played to 3 on the day, now that’s great golf, well done Robin.

Simon, Mr Consistency has had quite a good season with scores of 37, 21, 27, 25 and now 46! Personally I don’t know how anyone can score that well round Southampton. I once scored 42 points with a tremendous back 9 of one over par and I thought that amazing, but 46 points (22 out 24 back) is almost too incredible for words, well done Simon.

Winner of the Long Handicap was Mick with a measly 37 points, what a shame, only 37 points! I’d almost kill for 37 points at the moment.

Turnout was pretty good too, so it seems everyone had a good day, whish is what the society is all about, golf, good bit of fun, and a bite to eat.

Now we are all looking forward to South Winchester and the final day of the seasons competitions.  New Captain takes over, new Vice Captain is introduced, Eclectic, Birdies, Club Champion lots of winners to be decided, but none more interesting than the Club Championship. Dave Galvin and Robin are tied on 132 points each, but Dave has a better win ratio and should win unless Robin beats Dave’s lowest score by more than 6, hard to do but not impossible.
